Fishing competition results 2018
In picture perfect conditions on Saturday March 24th boats launched early from the Whanganui slipway for the annual Totally Vets Group Fishing Competition. This year we had over 100 anglers take to the water with eager smiles and high expectations.
They were not disappointed. Reports from some folks said that the snapper were virtually jumping in the boat! We had over 250kg total weight of snapper across the scales (comprised of 85 fish) plus many good quality blue cod & gurnard, a load of trevally and a couple of big kingfish.
The eagerly contested LA Landscapes Most Average Snapper category was won by Pete Loveridge (on board Chirpy) with a good snapper of 2.60kg. There were also runner-up prizes for the snapper each side of this going to Colin Dalziell (Legacy) at 2.77kg and Lynette Worsfold (4 Play) at 2.58kg.

One more big thank you goes to Brian & Daryl from The Whanganui/Manawatu Sea Fishing Club for all of their help on the day, Tracey Alston from Totally Vets for her assistance at the prize-giving and to Pam from Whanganui Coastguard for keeping a watchful eye out. I certainly would not be able to run such a great event without their support.
We'd love to hear your feedback and fishy stories from the day and any suggestions on how we can grow the event and make it even bigger and better than it is already.
Stay tuned for next year's dates and we'll see you then.
